Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) and SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) are scheduled to report their third-quarter 2026 results after the US market close on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Netflix: what the company forecast

In its second-quarter shareholder letter in July, Netflix forecast for the third quarter:
  • revenue of $12.86 billion, up 11.7% from a year earlier
  • operating income of $4.27 billion and an operating margin of 33.2%
  • diluted earnings of $0.82 per share
For the full year 2026, Netflix narrowed its revenue forecast to $51.0 billion to $51.4 billion and kept its operating margin target of 31.5%. The company has said it expects advertising revenue of about $3 billion for the year.
In the second quarter, Netflix reported revenue of $12.56 billion, up 13% from a year earlier, an operating margin of 33.4% and earnings of $0.80 per share.

SpaceX: second set of results as a public company

SpaceX began trading on Nasdaq in June and will report its second set of quarterly results as a public company. The results are due after the close, followed by an audio webcast at 3:30 p.m. CT (4:30 p.m. ET) on SpaceX's investor relations website and on X.
In the second quarter, SpaceX reported:
  • revenue of $7.8 billion, up 92% from a year earlier
  • a net loss of $541 million, compared with a loss of $1.0 billion a year earlier
  • Connectivity (Starlink) revenue of $4.3 billion and Space revenue of $962 million
  • 12.0 million Starlink subscribers at the end of June
  • 38 launches in the quarter
SpaceX did not provide formal financial guidance in its second-quarter release.

What investors will look at

For Netflix, key items include revenue compared with the company's forecast, advertising revenue, operating margin, content spending and any update to the full-year outlook. Netflix no longer reports quarterly subscriber numbers, so revenue and engagement figures receive more attention.
For SpaceX, key items include Starlink subscriber growth and revenue per user, the number of launches, progress on the Starship programme, spending on infrastructure and the performance of its AI segment.

Why the timing matters

The reports come after a volatile period for technology shares. The Nasdaq Composite posted its worst week since June in the week to October 16 and rebounded on October 19. Results from large technology companies this week, including Tesla and Meta Platforms on Wednesday, are being followed for signals on demand and spending.

Two different businesses

Netflix earns most of its revenue from monthly subscriptions to its streaming service, with a growing contribution from advertising on its lower-priced plan. Its costs are driven mainly by spending on films and series. SpaceX earns revenue from Starlink internet subscriptions, from launching satellites and other payloads for customers, and from its AI business. Its costs include building rockets and satellites and expanding its infrastructure.

How to follow the results

Both companies publish their results on their investor relations websites. Netflix usually releases a shareholder letter and holds a video interview with management. Share prices can move significantly in after-hours trading following quarterly reports.

What happened last quarter

After Netflix's second-quarter report in July, the company narrowed its full-year revenue range and kept its margin target. After SpaceX's first report as a public company in August, attention focused on the growth of Starlink and the costs of its AI business. Comparing new results with these earlier figures and forecasts is one way investors assess each company's progress.

Risks and uncertainties

Company forecasts reflect current expectations, and actual results may differ. Share prices of technology and media companies can be volatile around earnings reports. Past results do not indicate future performance.
