Corporate Action Trading Restrictions

Why are some securities unavailable for 24/5 Trading around corporate actions?

Certain corporate actions require changes to security information, client positions, share quantities, prices, or other settlement details. To ensure these changes are processed accurately and to help maintain an orderly market, 24/5 Trading may be temporarily unavailable for affected securities.

During this period, the security will continue to be available during Regular Trading Hours (RTH) only.

Which corporate actions may affect 24/5 Trading?

24/5 Trading may be temporarily restricted for securities undergoing certain mandatory corporate actions, including:

  • Ticker Symbol Change;
  • CUSIP or other security identifier change;
  • Large Cash Dividend. Stock dividends (payable in cash, stock, or another security) where the Exchange determines the aggregate value per share is at least 25% of the Official Closing Price on the day immediately preceding the ex-date;
  • Stock Split (Forward or Reverse);
  • De-SPAC Transaction;
  • Spin-off;
  • Security Type or Share Class Change;
  • Merger or Mandatory Share Exchange;
  • Other significant corporate actions requiring operational processing.

This list is not exhaustive. Additional corporate actions may also require temporary restrictions where necessary.

When will 24/5 Trading be unavailable?

For eligible corporate actions, 24/5 Trading will be suspended beginning one (1) trading day before the Effective Date and will remain unavailable on the Effective Date.

During these two trading days:

  • 24/5 Trading will not be available for the affected security;
  • Regular Trading Hours (RTH) trading will continue to be available, subject to normal market conditions and exchange trading status.

Once the corporate action has been successfully processed, the security will again become eligible for 24/5 Trading, provided it continues to meet our eligibility criteria.

Can I still trade the security during this period?

Yes. Although 24/5 Trading is temporarily unavailable, you may continue to trade the security during Regular Trading Hours, provided trading has not been halted by the primary listing exchange or other regulatory authority.

Why is this restriction necessary?

Corporate actions often require operational updates, including adjusting share balances, updating security identifiers, processing cash or stock entitlements, updating prices following stock splits, allocating shares from mergers or spin-offs, and updating reference data across trading and settlement systems. Temporarily restricting 24/5 Trading helps ensure these updates are completed accurately before extended-hours trading resumes.

How will I know if a security is affected?

Where practicable, we will notify clients through our trading platform or other communication channels when a security is scheduled to have temporary 24/5 Trading restrictions due to an upcoming corporate action. You will see the description in the Trading Hours Schedule per instrument, and also on the Trade Confirmation Screen in the app.

Will all corporate actions result in a 24/5 Trading restriction?

No. Only corporate actions that require significant operational or settlement processing are expected to result in temporary 24/5 Trading restrictions. We reserve the right to determine which corporate actions require such restrictions in order to protect clients and maintain orderly trading.

Does this affect Regular Trading Hours?

No. Unless trading is suspended by the relevant exchange or regulatory authority, the affected security will continue to trade during Regular Trading Hours (RTH). Only 24/5 Trading availability is impacted by this policy.

When will 24/5 Trading resume?

24/5 Trading will normally resume on the next trading day after the corporate action has been successfully processed and our operational checks have been completed. The 24/5 Trading will start on the next trading day, with the overnight session, following the corporate action. The timing may vary depending on the nature of the corporate action and market conditions.

We may temporarily suspend 24/5 Trading for additional securities or corporate actions where operational, regulatory, market integrity, or risk management considerations make such action necessary. These restrictions are intended to support accurate processing of corporate actions and help ensure a fair and orderly trading environment.
